…For You have magnified Your word above all Your name. —Psalm 138:2 (NKJV)
When you listen to many worship songs today, you hear names like “Yahweh,” “Jehovah Rapha,” and “El-Shaddai.” While there is nothing wrong with calling God these names, it is important to understand that God has moved past those initial revelations. It is true that He is Jehovah Rapha (the Lord who heals) and Jehovah Nissi (the Lord our Banner), but the greater truth is that He has invested all of these titles into one name: Jesus.
God wants you to be more conscious of the name Jesus, just as you are of the other names. The name “Jesus” is the current revelation of who God is to us. In the past, God revealed Himself in parts to His people.
For example, God told Moses, “‘I am the LORD. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name LORD I was not known to them’” (Exodus 6:2-3, NKJV). This means that to the patriarchs, God revealed Himself as the Almighty, but the dimension of Him as LORD was not yet known to them. In the same way, God has now fully revealed Himself to us in the person of Jesus.
The totality of who God is has been vested in Jesus. That’s why the Bible says, “…it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell…” (Colossians 1:19, NKJV), and, “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily…” (Colossians 2:9, NKJV).
So when you call on the name Jesus, you are referring to God and everything He represents. Calling on Jehovah Rapha refers to God the healer, but calling on the name Jesus refers to God as the healer, the provider, and everything you can ever think of. This is why the Bible says:
…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. —Philippians 2:10-11 (NKJV)
Therefore, on the strength of this, I admonish you to use the name of Jesus more often. That name encapsulates every revelation of who God is and all He can do in your life. Praise God!
Today’s Rhema
Use the name of Jesus more, because that name encapsulates all the revelation of who God is and all He can do in your life!
Confession for the day
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for reminding me of the revelation You have brought to us. I hereby declare that the name of Jesus will no longer be scarce on my lips. I will do all things in that name, and as I do, I will make progress in righteousness, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
