“….and when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there…”Matthew 14:23 (NKJV)
When we take a very close look at the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, one of the things we see is His personal fellowship with God. He never joked with this area of His life. The Bible records in our opening text, that “…when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there…”Matthew 14:23 (NKJV). On another occasion, the Bible says, “….now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God…”Luke 6:12 (NKJV). Letting us know that this was His lifestyle, He enjoyed having fellowship moments with the Lord.
The question now is, do you enjoy having fellowship with God? Is it something that you look forward to? Do you have times in your life when you just want to be alone with God??? If the answer is Yes, then I congratulate you and encourage you to continue in that path and spend more time with God. But if your answer is No, then you must think again and make a conscious decision to develop a lifestyle of fellowship because fellowship will not only sustain God’s presence in your life, it will bring you into alignment with His plans and purposes for your life. Therefore, take it seriously and become a believer who doesn’t joke with having fellowship with God. When you begin to take fellowship with God seriously, you begin to attract divine visitations and encounters and these are the things that position you for a glorious and fruitful life. So, take this counsel seriously and be a Christian who takes his fellowship with God seriously.
