“…but if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness…”- Romans 8:10 (NIV)

If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, you need to know that God has given you the gift of righteousness.  Righteousness is the nature of God that makes us have a right standing with Him. It is the very gift from God that makes us stand before God without any guilt of sin or shame. It is because of this gift the Bible tells us in Hebrews 4:16 to should come boldly before the throne of grace and obtain mercy and find grace to use at the time of need…” It is the gift that makes us do the right thing the first time and causes us to reign in life. For it is written, “…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One Jesus Christ…”- Romans 5:17. It is the gift that God has equipped us with to make us win in life and we must take advantage of this gift because beyond all the advantages that have been listed above, it has come to play a major role in our health as well.

Before Jesus Christ came, death reigned in the world because of the first man Adam who sinned against God. And because death was at work, man was subject to sickness but when Jesus Christ came and gave us the gift of righteousness, just as our opening scripture says, “Even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life to us (our mortal bodies) because of righteousness. Meaning that our body receives life because the gift of righteousness is at work in us. Therefore, you must become conscious of this gift that God has given to us in Christ Jesus and take advantage of it. Because of this gift, sickness has no legal right to dwell in your body. We will learn more in our next article, but until then become conscious of this wonderful gift that you have received from God and take advantage of it. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

I have in me the gift of righteousness, therefore I cannot be afflicted or disadvantaged, I cannot be condemned or live in condemnation. And everything is working together for my good because the gift of righteousness is mightily at work in my life in Jesus name. Amen!
