“So then, submit yourselves to God…” — James 4:7 (GNT)

Beloved, are you truly submitted to God and His word? This question may seem simple, but have you ever taken the time to reflect on it? If you do, you might be surprised at the answer, considering your walk with God so far.

Being in Christ is one thing, but submitting to Him is another. Over the years, I’ve observed that many believers acknowledge Christ but do not fully submit to Him. They do not follow His word, His ways, or His principles. Instead, they rely on their own understanding and make decisions without considering Christ. When you live like this, you open the door for the devil to manipulate you.

The Bible is filled with examples of people who were not submissive to God, and the consequences were severe. Take Jonah, for example. God instructed him to deliver a message to the people of Nineveh, yet he chose to go in the opposite direction. What was the result? He ended up in the belly of a great fish for three days and three nights (Jonah 1:1-17). This is what happens when people refuse to submit to God’s word and His ways.

I encourage you to make the necessary adjustments in your walk with God. Choose to submit to Him completely. The best way to do this is by surrendering your will to Him—using your free will to embrace God’s will. Doing so does not diminish you; instead, it elevates you and places you in a better position. No matter how good your plans may seem, God’s will for you is always wiser and better.

So, choose wisely. Always remember that if you are not submitted to God, you are indirectly submitted to the devil. Is that the kind of life you want to live? Certainly not. Take the right step today. Praise God!
