“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” — (James 4:7 NKJV)
Beloved, do you know it’s possible to resist God without even realizing it? It happens more often than we think—when God tries to lead us one way, but we insist on going another. When we ignore His promptings, disobey His word, or follow our desires over His will, we’re actually resisting Him.
This resistance often comes in subtle forms. It may feel like we’re making reasonable choices or just “following our heart.” But in truth, each time we say “no” to God’s leading, we’re creating distance in our relationship with Him—and inadvertently giving space for the devil to operate. The enemy’s strategy is simple: get you to rebel against God, even passively, so you unknowingly begin to submit to his influence.
But James 4:7 gives us a powerful truth in a specific order: first, submit to God—then resist the devil—and he will flee. Rebellion invites the devil, but submission makes him flee. The key to victory and protection is surrender.
So how do you truly submit? Stop insisting on your way. Lay aside your preferences. Trust God’s wisdom and embrace His instructions, even when they seem uncomfortable or unclear. He is the Lord, not just your helper. Your walk with Him must be on His terms, not yours.
Let God have His way in your life. Follow His word, yield to His Spirit, and stop negotiating with Him. His plans are for your good—and when you surrender to Him, you’ll always come out victorious. Hallelujah!
