“…Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth…” 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

One of the challenges many believers face in their Christian walk is that when they study God’s word, they do not understand it. I faced that challenge in my early Christian years and it almost discouraged me from studying the word. But something I discovered in those years was that the more I gave myself to the word of God, the more I was conforming to the word. My values began to change and my actions and decisions were now being influenced by what I saw in the word of God. At first it didn’t look as though anything was happening in my life, but as I gave myself to the word, I began to provoke a change in my life and today, I am literally a product of God’s word.

Now, when I study the word of God, I receive understanding because I have trained myself to give attention to the word and to do what it says. Beloved, you too can experience this divine transformation if you will only yield yourself to the word God. It is true that you might not understand at first but as you continue to give yourself to the word of God, it will begin to carry out its ministry in your life, and you will be changed and transformed.

So, refuse to be discouraged when you study the word of God and not understand because apart from receiving understanding, other changes are taking place in your life. You must understand when you study the word of God, you are beholding Jesus and His glory because He is the word made flesh (John 1: 14). Now, the significance of this is that when you behold the glory (study the word), the transformational power of the word of God moves into action. That’s why the Bible says, “….we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord….” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV).

So, instead of getting discouraged from studying the word of God because of the lack of understanding, ask the Holy Spirit to grant you understanding as you study and keep giving yourself to the word. When you do, it will renew and cleanse your mind. And above all, it will condition your mind to assimilate and receive the word with meekness and understanding. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

Confession for the Day

Glorious and ever living Father, I thank you for helping me understand your word. I refuse to be discouraged from studying the word because of the lack of understanding, I choose to give myself to the word again and again, and as I do, I receive all manner of life changing impartation in the name of Jesus. Amen!
