“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV)
Glory be to God! We have entered the tenth month of the year 2024. The question is: What do you see? Are you expectant for what the future holds, or are you more focused on the months gone? Some people dwell on all the time that has passed without any significant achievements, and become discouraged because things didn’t go as planned. But the truth is sadness won’t change anything.
As a child of God, do not be in the habit of looking back at what went wrong. Instead, focus on the things God has done and look forward to the great things He is about to do.
Remember the story of Lot and his wife. When God was saving them from destruction, He gave them a clear command through His angel: “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plains. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed” (Genesis 19:17). But Lot’s wife looked back and became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Why? Because she disobeyed the instruction of the Lord. This illustrates how dangerous it can be to dwell on the past.
There’s nothing wrong with reflecting on where you made mistakes so you can improve, but living in regret is where it becomes a problem.
Therefore, I encourage you today to focus on what lies ahead. It may be true that things didn’t goals expected over the past months, but guess what? You still have opportunities in the months ahead. Instead of lamenting over what wasn’t achieved, start focusing on what you can accomplish with the time that remains. Be determined to achieve your goals, commit them into the Lord’s hands, and you will be amazed at how things will turn in your favor.
Keep your head straight and look toward what God has in store for you tomorrow. You have a bright future. Praise God!
Today’s Rhema
Looking back will only take you backwards, but looking forward will take you forward!
