“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” — (James 4:7 NKJV)
One crucial decision you must make as a child of God is to stop listening to the devil. It may sound strange, but every time you feel discouraged, fearful, or limited, it’s often the enemy whispering lies in your ear. These subtle thoughts—doubts, anxieties, or negative imaginations—are not from God but from the devil, seeking to derail you.
You must guard your mind against these intrusions. I remember a season when a persistent thought convinced me I would never live beyond forty years. It felt like my own doubt, but deep down I sensed another voice asking, What if this is the devil speaking? Recognizing it as his lie, I rebuked it in Jesus’ name and countered with Scripture. Before long, the thought vanished—and it has never returned.
When demonic thoughts or images arise—feelings of worthlessness, paralyzing fear, or shame—swiftly reject them. Declare aloud the truth of God’s Word. As James 4:7 instructs, submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee. Use the Scriptures as your weapon: speak life, hope, and faith over every lie.
But how can you discern God’s voice? He also uses thoughts, ideas, and impressions—only His will uplift you, encourage you, and align with His promises. When a thought brings peace and confidence in Christ, receive it. When it breeds doubt and despair, reject it.
Today’s Rhema
If you resist the devil, he will surely flee!
Confession for the Day
Father, I thank You for revealing this truth to me. Today, I choose to heed Your voice above every other. I submit my mind to You, and I resist every influence of the devil—from thoughts to images to emotions. By Your Word, I declare these lies have no power over me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
