“…till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” — Ephesians 4:13 (NKJV)
After many years of pastoring, one thing I’ve observed is this: too many of God’s people have no real plan to build their spiritual lives. They have plans to build their careers, their families, and their finances—but when it comes to their spiritual growth, there’s no structure, no priority. Yet, the truth is that your physical life depends heavily on the strength of your spiritual life.
Beloved, this is not how God intends for you to live. You must understand that life is spiritual. Everything that manifests in the physical realm begins in the spirit. In fact, the physical realm is governed by the spiritual. So if you want to stand strong and avoid becoming a victim in life, you must learn to approach life spiritually—and that begins with building your spiritual life deliberately.
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking your spiritual life will grow just because you attend church regularly. Spiritual growth is not automatic—it’s intentional. You must make time for the disciplines that help you develop spiritually.
You might ask, “What are those disciplines?” It starts with the Word of God. The Bible says, “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2 NKJV). Growth begins with knowledge. The more you know, the more you grow.
Set aside time to study the Bible. In doing so, you’re not just gaining information—you’re spending time with God Himself. He speaks to you, reveals His promises, and reminds you of all He’s made available to you in Christ.
Secondly, commit to prayer and fasting. This discipline strengthens your inner man, unlocks your spiritual gifts, and positions you as a vessel God can use to impact others. It also causes you to carry God’s presence in a way that repels the forces of darkness.
Finally, make it a point to serve in God’s house. Serving builds character, humility, and spiritual maturity. It stretches you, shapes you, and aligns you with God’s purpose in a unique way.
So I encourage you: be deliberate. Create time. Invest effort. As you build your spiritual life, you’ll find yourself walking in victory and operating in the dominion God has ordained for you.
Today’s Rhema
If you do not want to be a victim in this world, you must take time to build your spiritual life—because the physical is controlled by the spiritual.
Confession for the Day
Father, I thank You for opening my eyes to this truth. I choose this day to intentionally build and grow my spiritual life. As I do this, I walk in victory, operate in divine wisdom, and live in dominion in this world, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
