“…God sets the solitary in families; he brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land…”- Psalms 68:6 (NKJV)

Beloved, as you journey in your Christian walk, one of the things you must avoid with all vehemence is rebellion. Why? You might ask. Well, the reason is that it never ends well. Now, I do not say this to scare you but to educate you on the dangers of rebellion. Sometimes we ignorantly rebel against the instructions of God and in the long run, find ourselves struggling and facing the consequences of our rebellion. An example the story of Jonah the prophet. God sent him to Nineveh and deliver a message. But Jonah rebelled against God. Instead of going to Nineveh, he fled from the presence of God and went to Tarshish. But while he was in the ship to Tarshish, there arose a mighty storm because of Jonah and at the end of the day, the people in the ship had no choice but to throw Jonah into the sea, where a giant fish swallowed him.

Instead of arriving at Tarshish, Jonah ended up in the belly of a fish and he was there for three days. (Scripture Reference: Jonah 1:1-17). You know why? Because he was rebellious. It was when got into trouble that he remembered God. Imagine what he may have gone through in the belly of that fish. He could have avoided it, if he had not rebelled but like we have seen in our opening text, the Bible says “…the rebellious dwell in a dry land…”- Psalms 68:6 (NKJV). In other words, when you are rebellious to God and His Word, you will end up in a dry land, a place of difficulty and hardship. So, the question now is, which area are you currently in rebellion? Is it finances? or relationship, or attitude or prayers? Is it in church or even in your marriage? Whatever the case maybe, take these thoughts seriously and align yourself with God’s statutes, charges and command. Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22).

Today’s Rhema

Rebellion will do you no good, avoid it with all vehemence!

Confession for the Day

Thank you, heavenly Father, for educating me on the dangers of rebellion. I declare this day that every spirit or tendency for rebellion is removed from my life because obedience is at work in me in the name of Jesus. Amen!
