“…but the Lord God called out to the man, ‘Where are you?’ He answered, ‘I heard you in the garden; I was afraid and hid from you, because I was naked.’” – Genesis 3:9-10 (GNT)
The story of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3 shows us a profound truth about human nature. They once enjoyed perfect fellowship with God, but after falling for the devil’s deception and disobeying God, they chose to hide. Their immediate reaction was to distance themselves from the One they needed most. This response, rooted in fear and guilt, has remained the default reaction for many when they sin against God.
I once met someone who believed his sins were too grievous for God’s forgiveness. He thought staying away from God until he felt “good enough” was the only option. Unfortunately, this mindset often leads people further into sin, creating a vicious cycle that distances them even more from God. The truth is, running from God never solves the problem—it only gives the devil greater control over your life.
The right approach, whenever you stumble or fall into sin, is to run to God, not away from Him. God alone has the power to restore you, guide you, and equip you with the strength and wisdom to stand firm in the future. The enemy will try to convince you that God won’t accept you or that you’re unworthy, but these are lies. God’s arms are always open to receive you.
Acknowledging your faults and coming to God with humility and repentance is the first step to recovery. This is not a license to continue in sin but an invitation to rely on God’s grace and power to live above sin. Remember, He is your loving Father, and His desire is to see you overcome, not remain stuck in guilt or shame. So, when you err, make the conscious decision to run into His arms. He will always receive you with love and restore you to fellowship.
