“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.” – Romans 3:21 (NKJV)

Having explained in detail in the first part of this article about the righteousness we have received from God, you must understand that this righteousness is not self-righteousness as it used to be. Remember, in the old covenant, they had to keep all the laws and ordinances, and that is what determined whether they were righteous before God or not.

But in this new dispensation, righteousness is no longer of works but of faith, and it comes to you as a gift because of what Jesus Christ did for you on the Cross of Calvary. In this dispensation, “…man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ…” Galatians 2:16a (NKJV) because “…by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified…” Galatians 2:16b (NKJV).

So, having established this truth, walk with knowledge and stop trying to be righteous because you already are when you believed and received Jesus into your life.

The Bible says, “…if by one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life by one…” Romans 5:17 (NKJV). Did you see that? I want you to take note of the phrase “they which receive the gift of righteousness” because it lets us know that the righteousness God has approved is the one He gives us as a gift because we believe in Jesus Christ.

It is this gift that makes us righteous before Him and makes us act righteously before Him as well. Without this righteousness approved by God, even if we do well, it is not righteousness before Him because what makes our acts righteous in the sight of God is the nature of righteousness which He gives as a gift. So, take this seriously and be joyful for the righteousness you have received in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

Without God’s gift of righteousness, no good act can be counted as righteous in the sight of God!

Confession for the Day

All-powerful and ever-living Father, I thank You for the privilege of being Your child and the gift of being Your righteousness in Christ Jesus. I appreciate it greatly, and I choose to dwell on this truth and use it to my advantage in Jesus’ name. Amen!
