“But now I say to you, ‘Return to me, and I will return to you. And I, the Lord Almighty, promise this.’ ”
—Zechariah 1:3 (GNB)

Sometimes, in a bid to make ends meet and catch up with the day-to-day demands, you might get carried away and veer off from the path God wants you to follow. In most cases, you could get so distracted that you drift far from God and start engaging in practices that aren’t biblical. This does happen—especially because that’s exactly what the devil wants. But when it does, you must realize it quickly and return to the Lord, because that’s where your safety, preservation, and provision lie.

Sadly, this isn’t the case for many of God’s people today. When they find themselves far from the Lord, instead of doing everything possible to return, they often go back to the world and get lost completely—without any sense of remorse whatsoever. When the devil strikes, they aren’t spared, because they’ve left their place of protection and security.

However, it’s good to know that no matter how far you’ve gone from the Lord, you can always choose to come back sincerely—and He will accept you. Remember the story of the prodigal son, who collected his share of his father’s wealth and squandered it on reckless living. When he realized his mistake and began to suffer the consequences of his actions, he repented and decided to go back home.

“I will get up and go to my father and say, ‘Father, I have sinned against God and against you. I am no longer fit to be called your son; treat me as one of your hired workers.’ So he got up and started back to his father.”
—Luke 15:18–20 (GNB)

Now, that’s what I call realization. He recognized his error and returned—and his father welcomed him openheartedly and threw a celebration for him. Why? Because that’s what happens when you choose to come back.

So I urge you to think about this and make a conscious decision to return to the Lord in any area of your life where you may have strayed. It’s never too late. The hands of your Father are always open to receive you back. The question is, will you return? If you will, it’ll be the best decision you’ll ever make.

Today’s Rhema

Confession for the Day

Thank you, heavenly Father, for opening my eyes to the truth. I choose this day to return to You in every area where I’ve drifted away. And I declare that as I return, all things work together for my good, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
