“Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy, all you upright in heart” — Psalms 32:11 (NKJV)
One of the most common responses people have when facing difficult situations is to wear a moody face and sink into sadness. They stay in this state because they can’t see any reason to be happy or cheerful. As a result, they carry the weight of their challenges as though their world has come to an end. But this isn’t how God wants us to respond to life’s challenges. He doesn’t want us to be consumed with sadness, but rather to respond with joy and laughter, because this attitude ushers in victory.
When you get sad over the difficulties you’re facing, it doesn’t change anything. In fact, it only makes things worse. The best response is to keep a joyful attitude and laugh at the situation, knowing that you already have the victory in Christ. Whatever you’re going through right now, it’s not a time to wallow in sadness but to laugh. Yes, laugh and laugh again!
You may ask, What does laughter have to do with the situation I’m facing? It has everything to do with it! When you laugh in the midst of pressure and challenges, you are exercising authority over that challenge and stripping it of the power to control you. If you don’t laugh off the burden, you’ll become consumed by it and struggle to escape. So, I encourage you to laugh off the burden and stay focused on God’s promises.
You might wonder, What do I do after I’ve laughed? Well, the answer is in the Word: “…Do not fret or have anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests) with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace…which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus…” — Philippians 4:6-7 (AMPC). Hallelujah!

When you laugh amid pressures and challenges, you exercise authority over that challenge and deprive it of the right to rule over you!
