“…if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed…” —John 8:36 (NKV)

All over the world, lots of people are battling all kinds of addictions. They love God quite alright but they just find themselves having to fall back into that addiction again and again. They have made up their minds more than a thousand times to stop, but it’s just not happening. They keep saying to themselves, “I don’t want to continue like this” but they find themselves still going back to it. For them, it has become a trap. As a matter of fact, they are beginning to look down on themselves and think they are not worth God’s love because they feel in their hearts that they have disappointed God. So as a result, their self-esteem has burned low.

Well, if you are reading this book and you are going through such a situation, I want you to cheer up, because there is a way out. The Bible says in our opening text, that “.if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed…” John 8:36 (NKJV) The first thing that we see here is that Jesus Christ is your ticket to being free from any addiction. If you have not accepted Him into your life, I encourage you to do that immediately, because when you do, He gives you a new life and a new perspective. But if you have already received Jesus into your life, then you must embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ wholeheartedly and let them permeate your inner man. Let them dominate your mind and your consciousness. Get addicted to the teachings of Jesus Christ and replace that addiction with His Word. In other words, at that moment when you begin to feel the urge to engage in that addiction, take the Bible and begin to study. Initially, the urge to get involved in that addiction might be stronger than the urge to study the Bible, but discipline yourself to study the Bible. When you are done with your studies, take time to pray, and you will be amazed at how the urge will disappear. If this becomes a consistent practice in your life, you will certainly conquer that addiction that the devil has brought into your life.

Today’s Rhema

If you can replace that negative addiction with an addiction to going back to the Bible, you will break that stronghold off your life!

Confession for the Day

Knowledge has come to me today, therefore, I decree that the grace to overcome every negative addiction in my life is granted to me, and as I walk in this grace, all negative addictions are broken off my life in the name of Jesus. Amen!
