My child, when sinners tempt you, don’t give in. —Proverbs 1:10 (GNT)
Having established in the first article why you shouldn’t be tempted by the world, someone might still ask, “Why can’t we have that kind of fun? Why can’t we be free to do whatever we like?” The truth is, it is your choice. Following the world or following the scriptures is a choice, but remember that every choice has consequences.
If you choose the ways of the world, it might seem like you are having fun, but you are actually opening yourself to demonic manipulation. You are authorizing demons to afflict you. In the end, what seems like pleasure only exposes you to all manner of spiritual attacks and battles.
You must understand that a life without caution ends in destruction; many lives have been ruined because people just wanted to “have fun.” The Bible says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12, NKJV). Don’t be deceived by that lifestyle; all that glitters is not gold.
Therefore, be encouraged to look away from that kind of life. The benefits you have in Christ Jesus far outweigh anything the world offers. Do not think that you are caged in Christ; that is a wrong notion. The truth is that you have liberty in Him to do anything you want.
However, do not use your liberty to satisfy the lust of the flesh. As the Apostle Paul said, “For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13, NKJV). So, do what is right and keep your eyes on the wonderful inheritance we have in Christ Jesus. Praise God!
Today’s Rhema
