“for, I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content” Philippians 4:11 (NKJV)
Recently, I was having a little conversation with my little girl, and God taught me a big lesson through it. I was home with my kids, and suddenly she started looking for every other person in the house, but no one was around except for me and them. So, she came back lamenting and saying, “Mummy is not around; Sis Lisa is not around; Bro Oscar is not around.” I didn’t give it much thought at first, but she continued whining about it and was sounding worried. She made it seem as though she and her brother were alone at home. So I looked at her and said, I know that they are not around, but Daddy is here. When I said that, she became quiet. Reality dawned on her that I was actually at home with them and they were not alone. It was when this reality dawned that she became calm, confident, and satisfied. When I saw that, the Spirit of God reminded me that this is how many of God’s people behave today. Their focus isn’t always on what they have but on what they do not have, and this makes them live every day of their lives unfulfilled, which isn’t the way God wants us to live our lives.
Beloved, as you walk with God, it is very important that you learn to focus and appreciate the opportunities you have. It is important to appreciate where you are and the privileges that you have. Draw satisfaction from these things while you aspire for more in a godly way. Do not be among those who refuse to acknowledge the opportunities that they have. Do not focus on those things that you do not have; instead, focus on, and appreciate the things that you have right now and be satisfied. For many people, the root of their sadness and depression is their focus on the wrong things.
Some have even gone as far as harming others and committing terrible crimes because their focus was on the wrong thing.
If you will choose to appreciate God for the things He has made available to you today, you will be amazed at the achievements you will have within the shortest possible time. So, I encourage you today to acknowledge the opportunities and privileges that you have and celebrate them. Thank God for those things, and set your gaze on God to grant you the mercy and grace required to achieve the things you want to achieve in your life. Remember, the Bible says, “…delight also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass…” Psalms 37:4-5 (NKJV)
Today’s Rhema
The moment you begin to see the things that you have, grace will be given to you to receive the things you do not have!
Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for teaching me this wonderful lesson. I choose this day to recognize and acknowledge the blessings and opportunities that you have given to me. I choose to celebrate these blessings and as I do, I receive grace for many other blessings in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
