“….and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you….” 1 Thessalonians 4:11 (ESV)

Some years ago, a man of God whom I admired so much, told me that all the answers I needed in life were right there in the Bible. I didn’t quite believe it because I didn’t fully understand what he meant. But years have come and gone and trust me, I now believe that the solutions are right there in the Bible. The challenge is that few believe this, and many are not patient to look deep into the scriptures and discover the solutions they need.

If you will be patient enough to look deep into the scriptures, you find that all you are looking for already exists there. One of such is the solution to poverty and want. Beloved, if you do not want to experience poverty and lack, you must get busy with your hands. In our opening text, the Bible says, “…aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one…” 1 Thessalonians 4:12 (ESV). Did you see that counsel? In another part of the scriptures it says “…If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living…” 2 Thessalonians. 3:10‭-‬12 (ESV). From this, we see that the key to avoiding poverty is to put your hands to work.

So, I encourage you to get your hands busy. And for any other solution you need, look no further than the scriptures and the Holy Spirit will minister to you. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Father, I thank you because every solution we are looking for is right there in the scriptures. Therefore, I choose this day to put my hands to work and as I do, poverty and lack stays far from me in Jesus’ name. Amen!
