“…be at peace among yourselves.” 1 Thessalonians 5:13 (NKJV)
In my walk with God, one thing I have noticed is that brotherly love and kindness seem to be lacking in the church today. Christian brothers and sisters are no longer in the habit of being at peace with each other. Instead, there are too many fights, grudges, gossip, and bitterness among the brethren. It hurts to see this happening because it is far from how God wants things to be.
You often see two Christian brothers or sisters at odds with each other over matters of no eternal value. In some cases, they are even ready to fight in church just to prove a point. But the question is, does God want us to live this way? Does He want us divided like this? Certainly not! This is not His prescribed order for us.
Beloved, you must understand that God is displeased when we live this way. It shows we fail to recognize each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. It reveals a lack of consciousness of the blood of the new covenant that unites us. God wants us to live at peace with one another and walk in love towards each other.
In Mark 12:30-31, our Lord Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Did you see that? It makes it clear that we have a responsibility to walk in love toward one another and refuse to be at odds with each other.
Therefore, I encourage you today to make a conscious decision to always be at peace with your fellow brothers and sisters in the church.

Confession for the Day
The love of God is shed abroad in my heart, and I do not find it difficult to pursue peace. I walk in love effortlessly, and I refuse to be at odds with anyone because the nature of God is at work in me. I am the man (or woman) of peace God has called me to be, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
