Press for Your Future

“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14 NKJV)

In our opening scripture, the Apostle Paul gives us a profound insight into his approach to fulfilling his destiny. He said, “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14 NKJV). This statement reveals his determination and the deliberate effort required to achieve the purpose for which God called him. Paul understood that destiny is not handed over on a platter of gold; it must be contended for.

Beloved, as you step into the coming year, make a firm decision to press for your life and destiny. It’s a mistake to assume that the dreams and goals you have will simply fall into place without effort. From the beginning of time, achievements and victories have always required battles and painstaking effort. The peace and prosperity you see in nations or individuals’ lives didn’t come by chance; they were birthed through hard work, sacrifices, and often fierce battles.

Likewise, if you’re going to fulfill your God-given destiny, you must press on. You must fight for the promises of God over your life and be willing to make the sacrifices necessary for success. Stop allowing setbacks and challenges to defeat you. Refuse to engage in self-pity and instead rise to the occasion. Be like Paul, who relentlessly pursued his goal, knowing that God’s grace and power would sustain him.

Remember, the nation of Israel that we admire today is a testament to battles fought and won. Even the name “Israel” came from a place of struggle, as Jacob wrestled with God and prevailed. This teaches us that victory comes to those who press on and refuse to give up. As you prepare for the coming year, adopt this mindset, and you will surely see God’s hand move powerfully in your life. Hallelujah!
