“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16 NKJV)
As the year draws to a close, one of the most important things you can do for yourself is to commit to prayer with fasting daily until you step into the new year. While this might not seem appealing to the natural mind, it is a spiritual discipline that yields immense benefits. The transition from one year to another is a significant spiritual juncture, a full circle in which many things take place. The enemy often uses this period to execute his schemes, seeking to derail lives and destinies.
Prayer with fasting makes you a fortified individual, resistant to the enemy’s plans. It positions you to receive the grace necessary to navigate the coming year without hindrance and equips you to access the blessings God has prepared for you.
Therefore, make a deliberate decision to engage in this spiritual exercise. Don’t let the festive mood of the season distract you from the importance of securing your future through prayer. While celebrations abound, remember that the enemy is actively devising his plans. Your exemption and security come from God’s mercy, which is accessed in the place of prayer. As it is written, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16 NKJV).
If you find yourself lacking the motivation to pray and fast, resist that apathy. Such resistance could be a subtle attack to keep you from receiving what God has for you. Stir yourself up, rebuke any form of laziness, and press into the discipline of prayer. When you do, the Holy Spirit will empower you and grant you the grace to persevere. The outcomes of the new year hinge on the spiritual groundwork you lay now. So, take this opportunity to determine your future by starting today. Hallelujah!
