“…men always ought to pray and not lose heart…” — Luke 18:1 (NKJV)
Having established in the first part of this article the importance of praying over your mind, someone might ask how you can know when your mind is under attack or being manipulated. This is a good and necessary question, because many people simply do not recognize when their thoughts are being influenced spiritually.
One of the most obvious signs is the rise of persistent negative thoughts. For example, you may be getting ready to go out, and suddenly a thought crosses your mind: “What if I don’t come back? What if I get into an accident and die?” At first glance, these may appear to be regular anxious thoughts, but in truth, they are not from God, nor are they simply your own. They are demonic suggestions designed to stir fear and plant lies. The danger lies in believing them, because “…all things are possible to him who believes…” — Mark 9:23 (NKJV). When fear is believed, it gains influence.
Another indicator that your mind is under spiritual attack is when you are unable to find calm or focus due to a flood of restless thoughts. When peace eludes you and confusion seems to dominate, it’s often not just a matter of stress but a deeper, spiritual interference. Sometimes it can also show up as frequent outbursts of anger, difficulty in forgiving, or a growing sense of jealousy and envy. These are more than just personality traits—they can be signs of an inner battle.
When such things begin to surface, don’t remain silent or passive. Don’t rationalize them or accept them as your norm. Speak over your mind. Pray with authority, declaring your freedom in the name of Jesus. The change may not be immediate, but continued declarations and heartfelt prayer will break the grip of darkness over time.
Choose to take responsibility for your mental space. Declare peace. Speak the Word. Thank God for the sound mind He has given you in Christ. As you do this, you will find that your mind is no longer a battlefield but a place of strength, peace, and clarity. The devil will lose his ground, and the Holy Spirit will rule your thoughts with power and calm.
