“…For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries…” 1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV)
Sometimes when the challenges of life become too much, many of God’s people find it difficult to pray because they are overwhelmed and in most cases, they don’t know what to pray for. The pressures of the situation have made them confused to the point where it paralyzes their prayer life and everything goes from bad to worse. The question is, is this how God wants us to live our lives? Are we supposed to come to this point because we are overwhelmed? Well, the answer is No.
Beloved, you must understand that God does not want you confused or overwhelmed by the challenges of life. He does not want you to come to that point where you are no longer in control. Instead, He wants you to take charge of the situation and handle it in prayers. And the kind of prayer you offer at this point is praying in the Spirit or with your spirit. Now, for those who do not understand what praying in the spirit or praying with your spirit means, it is all about praying in tongues. And in doing this prayer, you don’t use any prayer points. You just pray in tongues. Why? Because at this point, you do not know precisely what you are battling with. You do not know the right prayer point to use, so the best thing is to pray in tongues and let the Holy Spirit, take control and put things in place.
You might say but how can such prayers help me? Well, it will help you because praying with your understanding limits you but praying with your spirit puts the limit aside and plugs you into the ministry and intelligence of the Spirit of God. It is in prayers like this that the Holy Spirit takes over, and begins to intercede for you. That’s why the Bible says “…likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered…” Romans 8:26 (NKJV). Did you see that? So when you find yourself in such an overwhelming situation and you do not know what to pray for, just switch to praying in tongues and before long, the Holy Spirit takes over and begins to intercede for you with groanings that cannot be uttered. Halleluiah!

Glorious and ever-living father, I thank you for teaching me what to do in times of difficult situations. I, therefore, receive the courage to pray in tongues like never before in times of difficulties and as I do this, every situation gets sorted out in the name of Jesus. Amen!
