“…be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves…” James 1:22 (ESV)

Ceremonial Christianity is a growing trait in Christendom today, which must be changed. Too many of God’s people see Christianity as just a name or a ceremonious idea. They are comfortable saying “I am a Christian” when they are asked, but when it comes to putting Christianity to work or living out the Christian life, they find it difficult. This is why many have found themselves in some difficult situations. Some have been afflicted or manipulated by the devil because they are not practicing Christians. However, this has to change. You must understand that Christianity is not just a name; it is a Life with certain responsibilities. You have to fulfill your part of the bargain to see the Word of God produce results in your life. For example, salvation, which was brought to us by Jesus Christ through His finished works, is free, but until and unless you accept what He has done for you, it cannot be appropriated to you. You have a responsibility to believe and accept what He has done for you.

In the same way, Jesus Christ has brought you healing, liberty, authority, dominion, and abundance. If you will experience them in your life, you must learn to put the Word to work and do what it says. There is power in doing the Word of God, and that is what unlocks the power that is resident in the Word and causes it to produce results in your life. When God was commissioning Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, He said to him, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8 (ESV). These are remarkable words from the mouth of the Father. It lets us know that God wants us to be doers of the Word. So I encourage you to make your Christianity practical, and you will make your way prosperous.

Today’s Rhema

The Word of God is for doing; you have to fulfill your end of the bargain to see it produce results in your life!

Confession for the Day

Thank you Heavenly Father for letting me know what I am supposed to do with your Word. I declare that henceforth, I will not only hear the Word but do the Word as well, because I know now that when I put the Word to work, I make my life prosperous. Hallelujah!
