Abraham was patient, and so he received what God had promised. (Hebrews 6:15 GNT)
Previously, we explored the importance of cultivating patience. This virtue is the key to developing the right attitude and mindset needed to carry God’s blessings. While it might sound surprising, the truth is that God desires to make His blessings a reality in your life, but He also wants you to possess the right mindset and attitude before you can walk in those blessings. God doesn’t bless you to make you an oppressor; He blesses you so you can become a blessing to your family, His kingdom, and others. This is where patience comes into play. Patience develops maturity, keeps you humble, and helps you see things from God’s perspective. When you are blessed, patience ensures you use those blessings as God intends.
Unfortunately, many people fail to understand the role of patience. They chase wealth in the wrong way and end up in trouble. The Bible warns, Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:9-10 NKJV). Did you see that? Sadly, this remains the reality for many today. But this is not God’s plan for believers. If you want His blessings, you must be patient and follow the processes He leads you through.
Abraham followed this process and became exceedingly blessed. Isaac also embraced this principle, and the Bible says, He sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him. (Genesis 26:12-14 NKJV). From this, we see that God’s blessings unfold in stages. Isaac’s patience allowed him to see the full manifestation of those blessings. Beloved, only patience will help you navigate these stages and possess what God has for you. So, choose to be patient. Praise God!
