“…As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” Psalms 42:1‭-‬2 (NKJV)

As you journey in your walk with God, one of the most important things you must take seriously is your hunger for God. Hunger for God is what determines if you are spiritually healthy or not. When you begin to discover that you no longer hunger or crave for the presence of God, it is a sign that you have become spiritually sick and the devil is already on your case to bring you down.

However, to avoid giving the devil such an advantage over you, it is your responsibility to consistently nurture your hunger for God. If you fail to do it, no one will do it for you. Many believers today, do not realize that it is their responsibility to hunger for God. They think it is the responsibility of God or the responsibility for other believers to make them hunger for God but that is not how it works. It is your sole responsibility to crave and hunger for God and His presence. Interestingly, when you hunger for God, you are the one that benefits from it, because God has said, “…I will pour water on him who is thirsty…“Isaiah 44:3 (NKJV). In another verse of the scripture, the Bible says, “…blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled….”Matthew 5:6 (NKJV). Meaning hunger for God and His righteousness is a huge blessing.

So, I encourage you today, to deliberately nurture your hunger for God. You might say but how do I do this? Well, it is simple. You do that by deliberately making yourself available for church services, studying the word of God, engaging in prayer and fasting and most importantly giving your time to things that pertain to God and His righteousness. When you make yourself available for God, He releases the grace you require to be consistent with Him. But when you are hardly available to God, there is little or nothing He can do for you. So, take this seriously and do the needful today. Halleluiah!

Confession for the Day

Thank you, Father, for reminding me of my responsibility. I choose this day to continually make myself available to all activities that concerns you and as I do this, I receive grace for consistency in my Christian walk in the name of Jesus. Amen!
