How terrible for the world that there are things that make people lose their faith! Such things will always happen—but how terrible for the one who causes them! —Matthew 18:7 (GNT)

Beloved, as a believer in Christ Jesus, one of the things you must do for yourself is to protect your faith so that you do not lose it. The devil is working tirelessly to make sure you do not remain in faith, so he orchestrates situations and circumstances that could make you give up or lose your faith. But you must not give in to that, because that is not God’s plan for your life.

Therefore, no matter what you face, do not lose heart or lose your faith. Keep holding on, because that is where the victory lies. I know it may not be easy, as our world is programmed to present situations that will tempt you to change your confession of faith, but don’t give in to it. Instead, discipline yourself to look away from such distractions and focus on God’s Word.

In our opening text, our Lord Jesus Christ made a profound statement. He said, “How terrible for the world that there are things that make people lose their faith! Such things will always happen…” (Matthew 18:7, GNT). This tells us there will always be situations that tempt you to give up your faith, but you must not go in that direction.

Instead, embrace the love of God in Christ Jesus and refuse to lose your faith for anyone or any situation. Stand your ground and use the Word to secure your victory. Tell the devil off, resist his voice, and he will flee from you. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Thank you, Father, for equipping me with Your Word. I declare today that the grace, wisdom, and discipline to protect my faith are at work in me. As I do this, I am moving from one level of glory to another, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
