“…be at peace among yourselves…” 1 Thessalonians 5:13 (NKJV)

In my walk thus far with God, one thing that I have discovered that is really lacking in the church today is brotherly love and kindness. Christian brothers and sisters are no longer in the habit of being at peace with each other. There are too many fights, grudges, gossip and bitterness amongst the brethren. And it hurts to see this happen because this is not how God wants it to be. You will see two Christian Brother or sister at loggerheads with each other over things that are of no eternal worth. In most cases you see them want to fight in church just to prove a point. But the question is, does God want us to live like this? Does He want us to be divided amongst ourselves like this? Certainly not! This is not His prescribed order for us to live. In fact He gets offended when we live this because it shows that we do not recognize ourselves as brothers and sisters. It shows that we are not conscious of the blood of the new covenant that brings us together.

Beloved, you must understand that God wants us to live at peace with each other and walk in love towards each other. In Mark 12:31, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in admonishing the brethren said ” you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it is this; you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these…” Did you see that? It lets us know that we have a responsibility to walk in love towards one another and not be at loggerheads with each other. Therefore, I encourage you today to make a conscious decision to always be at peace with your fellow brothers and sisters in the church.

Confession for the Day

The love of God is shed abroad in my heart and I do not find it difficult to pursue peace. I walk in love effortlessly and I refuse to be at loggerheads with anyone because the nature of God is at work in me causing me to always be the man or woman of peace that I am  meant to be in the name of Jesus. Amen!
