“…Son of man, receive into your heart all my words that I speak to you and hear with your ears…”- Ezekiel 3:10 (NKJV)

Still, on the issue of taking spiritual counsel seriously, someone might say well, is it all spiritual counsel from a spiritual authority that should be taken seriously? Well, it depends on the situation you find yourself in. If it is a counsel that has to do with your way of life and you know that the counsel is in line with the word of God, then you ought to take the counsel seriously and do what it says because anyway, you are doing the word of God. If it is a counsel that the scriptures may not have expressly spoken about, the Holy Spirit in you will bear witness with your spirit and let you know, if the counsel you have received is in order or not. In most cases, before the counsel comes from a spiritual authority, the Holy Spirit would have already been talking to you on the matter. But whatever may be the case, the word of God and the Holy Spirit, are your guarantees. They will let you know whether the counsel you have received is from God or not.

Therefore, if you want your plans to go the way you want them, then receive counsel and value them. Even when it does not go down well with you, do not shrug it aside because it could be something that will save you when the time comes. Remember, in the story of Lot and Sodom, when the angels of God were delivering them from Sodom, one of the angels said “….run for your lives! Don’t look back and don’t stop in the valley. Run to the hills, so that you won’t be killed…”Genesis 19:17. Lot and his children took that counsel seriously but Lot’s wife did not. The Bible recorded that, “…lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt…” Genesis 19:26 (GNT). Did you see that? This could have been avoided if only she had taken the counsel of the angel seriously. So, I admonish you today to take spiritual counsel seriously in your life. When you do, you are the one to enjoy it. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Father, I thank you for bringing this timely message to me, I ask you to have mercy on me in any way I have downplayed spiritual counsel. I receive grace to recognize spiritual counsel and to align myself with it in the name of Jesus. Amen!
