“…make it your aim to live a quiet life, to mind your own business and to earn your own living, just as we told you before…” 1 Thessalonians 4:11 (GNT)

Have you noticed the way some people live their lives? They are incredibly flamboyant, announcing every detail of their lives on social media. But the truth remains that this is not how God wants us to live our lives. Now, while living an exuberant life is not a sin, it is often not ideal because of the many consequences that come with it. Many people have received various kinds of spiritual attacks because of this kind of lifestyle. Some have even been robbed, manipulated and even killed all because they could not live a quiet life.

Recently, I heard about a young man traveling abroad. He was so flamboyant about it online, announcing to everyone that he was about to leave. Guess what? He never got into the country he was going to. He was rejected at the point of entry for no apparent reason, and he had to return home in disappointment. Maybe this could have been avoided if he had been more discreet about his travel plans. These and many more are the experiences of several people. But your case should be different.

In our opening text, the Bible admonished us saying “…make it your aim to live a quiet life, to mind your own business and to earn your own living, just as we told you before…” 1 Thessalonians 4:11 (GNT). Did you see that? I, therefore, encourage you to live a quiet life. This is not to say you shouldn’t confide in people who are important in your life, but be wise enough to be discreet about certain things and you will be amazed at how God will move you from glory to glory. Hallelujah!
