“…do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old…” Isaiah 43:18 (NKJV)

One of the traps that the enemy has succeeded in putting many of God’s people in is to make them dwell on the past. He makes them relive the bad experiences of the past and keeps them trapped in them. He knows that as long as they dwell in the past, they will never step into the future. But the question is, will dwelling on the past help you in any way? The answer is a big NO!

Beloved, I know that you have experienced some terrible things that have created trauma in you, but trust me, if you are going to come out of that predicament, you must make a conscious decision to let go of the past and not remember those bad experiences anymore. I know it’s not an easy task, but the truth is that if you are truly going to step into the plans of God for your life, you must learn to let go and move on. In our opening text, God said to the Israelites, “…do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old…” Isaiah 43:18 (NKJV). Now, He didn’t end there; He said, “…behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert…” Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV). Did you see that? The reason God told them not to remember the old things was because He had a plan for the new.

So, I encourage you today, no matter how the devil tries to keep you in the past, to refuse to stay there, make a conscious decision that your focus will be on the new. If you can live your life like this, you will disarm the devil and his wicked plans against your life.
