”…you have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God. Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth…” Colossians 3:1-3 (GNT)
I remember the first time I came across our opening text and it changed my perspective a great deal. It made me start thinking about the things of the kingdom and not things on earth. It helped me to start attaching value to the things of the kingdom and not things on the earth. Why? Well, the reason is because we are visitors on this earth and when we are done, we will be leaving this world and all that it has to offer. So, why waste the time focusing on the things of this world? When I came to this realisation, it helped me to know where to channel my strength and focus.
So, as a believer, I encourage you to do the same, for it is written “you have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God. Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth…” Colossians 3:1-3 (GNT). Now, this does not mean you should become too heavenly conscious that you become earthly useless. What God wants us to do is to strike a balance and not be completely overtaken by the world and its passion.

Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for this wonderful truth you have revealed to me. I declare this day that I will not be conformed to this world and its ways. Instead, I will fix my mind on matters of the kingdom in Jesus’ name. Amen!
