“…do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old…” Isaiah 43:18 (NKJV)

Again, the year has come to an end and what most people like to spend their time doing at this time of the year is reflecting on all their disappointments and disadvantages and they get really depressed and discouraged because somehow, they feel that all their dreams were shattered this year. But that shouldn’t be your case as a Christian, because there is a way God wants you to respond to the disappointments and challenges you may have faced this year. As Christians, we don’t focus on the past, rather we forget the past and focus on the future because of a truth, that is all that matters. The past is gone now and no matter what you try to do, you will not be able to change the past, but you can still do something about the future.

Therefore, I encourage you today to forget about the past, refuse to allow it to control you and channel your focus to the future. Learn from past mistakes, get to know the various reasons why things didn’t work out as planned, and make a conscious decision to do better. You have a whole year before you to make the right decisions and choices, so take advantage of what is to come and not what has gone. The past plays no significant role in your future, so don’t dwell on it. I know that you may have had some very terrible experiences that may have pushed you into a place of depression or trauma, but God is asking you this morning to come out of that place because that is not where you ought to be. He wants you to be excited about the New Year and be full of zeal and expectations because truly that is where the power to turn things around lies. So, “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil…”1 Thessalonians 5:16-22. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

Take advantage of what is to come and not what has gone!

Confession for the Day

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your word today, I will no longer give undue attention to the past because now I know it has no role to play in my future. I choose this day to focus on the future and win in the name of Jesus. Amen!
