This is why I do my best always to have a clear conscience before God and people. —Acts 24:16 (GNT)

As you grow in your walk with God, one of the things you must pay attention to is your conscience. Why? Because the Holy Spirit uses your conscience to convict or guide you. Whenever you have spoken or acted wrongly, the Holy Spirit pricks your conscience to let you know that you are in error.

Whenever you want to take certain steps, the Holy Spirit uses your conscience to let you know if you are making the right decision. Basically, the Holy Spirit uses your conscience to keep you in check and on track.

Your responsibility is to keep your conscience clear before God and before people. The Apostle Paul understood this truth, saying, “This is why I do my best always to have a clear conscience before God and people” (Acts 24:16, GNT). He knew that this was the key to living peacefully with others and staying on the right track with God.

Therefore, as you go about your walk with God, pay attention to your conscience and keep it clear. If the Holy Spirit highlights anything that needs to be addressed, attend to it quickly and without delay. If you need to forgive or reconcile with anyone, do it urgently.

If you need to apologize to someone, do so immediately. Whatever the case may be, pay attention to what the Holy Spirit wants you to fix so that you can maintain a clear conscience before God and people. This will keep your prayers unhindered and, most importantly, keep you spiritually healthy.
