But some Jews were jealous and gathered worthless loafers from the streets and formed a mob. They set the whole city in an uproar and attacked the home of a man named Jason, in an attempt to find Paul and Silas and bring them out to the people. —Acts 17:5 (GNT)
As a believer, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to avoid jealousy at all costs. If you don’t, it will lead you to do wrong things and can even drive you to harm others. In our opening text, we see a clear lesson. The Bible records that some Jews were jealous, so they gathered a mob and set the whole city in an uproar, attacking Jason’s home to find Paul and Silas (Acts 17:5). Did you see that? They turned a whole city upside down because they were jealous.
If jealousy could make them do that, imagine what it could make you do. It could turn you into someone you are not. The worst part is that it could turn you against many people for no just cause. Therefore, to avoid this, it is best to walk in love.
The main reason to avoid jealousy is that it is part of the works of the flesh, which have serious consequences. The Bible says:
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. —Galatians 5:19-21 (NKJV)
Did you see that? So, do the needful and walk in the Spirit instead. Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
Jealousy is a manifestation of the flesh and not the Spirit; therefore, it should be avoided at all costs!
Confession for the Day
I am born of the Spirit of God; therefore, I choose to walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh. I choose to walk in love and not jealousy. As I do this, the blessings of walking in love follow me, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
