“…finding out what is acceptable to the Lord…”

Ephesians 5:10 (NKJV)

As you journey in your Christian walk, one question you should always ask yourself before you engage in anything is: is this thing I want to do acceptable to the Lord? Will God be pleased with me as I go on this path? If you ask yourself this question from time to time, it will serve as a guiding light to you and help you to always bear the fruits of righteousness, which ultimately preserves you and gives you an edge over the works and activities of the devil.

So, as you go about your Christian walk, become mindful of this question. Do not be quick to do anything you feel like doing. You must always find out if it is acceptable to the Lord or not. If it is, then you do it, but if it is not, you refrain from it. I know you might say, can’t I just live my life the way I want to? Well, that would have been okay if you were still in the world, but now that you are in Christ, you can’t just live the way you want because there is a path we ought to follow as believers in Christ Jesus. Paul understood this truth and said, “…all things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify…” I Corinthians 10:23 (NKJV)

In another part of scripture, Paul also said, “…all things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any…” I Corinthians 6:12 (NKJV). This lets us know that Paul understood that there are some things you shouldn’t just do or engage yourself in because they don’t edify. And anything that does not edify you will certainly not be acceptable to God.

So, I admonish you today to become mindful of this truth in your Christian walk. Always ask yourself the simple question. If the Word of God gives a go ahead or your conscience is okay with it, then it means it is acceptable to God. But if the Word already says otherwise and your conscience is unsettled about it, then it’s obvious you should stay away. Hallelujah!

Confession for the Day

My Lord and My God, I thank you for educating me with your word. Help me to always engage in activities that will be acceptable to you. Help me to be wise enough to always ask the question before I act in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
