“…Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ…“I Corinthians 11:1 (NKJV)
Having established the need to follow and imitate Jesus, someone might say, where do I start from? Well, it is simple! Start from your responses to God and the things that matter to Him. When we take a look at the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, we see that His responses to God were top notch. On one occasion He went out with His parents and while they thought He was with them, He entered into a synagogue and was listening to the teaching and asking questions. When His parents realized that He was not with them, they began to look for Him and when they finally found Him, He was in the synagogue (scripture reference: Luke 2:41-52).
Now, that speaks of His passion towards God and His house. You too should cultivate passion for God and His house. Take church services seriously and be eager to know God. Let God and His kingdom captivate you. Refuse to be like some believers today, who do not care at all about God and what He wants. All they just want is what God wants to give to them. It shouldn’t be that way. You must be like Jesus, who genuinely craved the things of God.
On another occasion, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “….I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work…” John 9:4 (NKJV). Now, this speaks of His consciousness of His assignment and His passion for the work of the Father. You too can develop this same passion and be conscious of His purpose for your life. When you start from these areas, it becomes easy to emulate Him in several other areas of life. So I encourage you to start from somewhere and it will bless you a great deal.

Confession for the Day
Glorious and ever living Father, I thank you for the opportunity you have given me to hear these words. I therefore decree that the grace to imitate Jesus is at work in me and when people see me, they shall see Jesus in me. Hallelujah!
