“…in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made…” John 1:1-3 (NKJV)
I have heard so many people who have made statements like, “Lord, I want to see you, Lord I want to know you.” And it pleases my heart that they truly want to know God more, but you see, it will not happen by saying it or wishing for it. It will only happen if actions are taken towards that desire. So to know God more, you must take action. Interestingly, provisions have already been made to that effect in the word of God. Anyone who desires to know the Lord needs to cultivate the habit of studying the word and by doing so, he or she will know Him more. In our opening text, we see that it is clearly written that the word of God is God. Meaning, you cannot look for God outside His word and you cannot discover God if you don’t pay attention to His word.
In the word, you will get to know the thoughts of God, His character and personality, you get to know His ways and most importantly His heart. You must understand that giving attention to the word of God brings you closer to God. At a certain time, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me…”-John 14:6 (NKJV). As we all know, Jesus Christ is the word of God made flesh. If you desire and truly want to see God, you must see His word as the way, you must see His word as the truth and you must see His word as the life. If you can put His word in you then the God in you will be active. So don’t ignore the word, go for the word because knowledge of the word leads to knowledge of the Holy One, and knowledge of the Holy One leads to understanding (Proverbs 9:10). And through understanding, your life is established (Proverbs 24:3). So embrace the word and know the Lord.
Today’s Rhema
God is inside His word, go for His word!
Confession for the Day
I realise that God is in his word and there is nowhere to find God except in his word. Therefore, today I lay hold of the word and I gave myself to the study of the word day and night. And I declare that as I continue to study the word, the transformation power of the word is working in me and making me what the word of God talks about in Jesus name. Amen!
