“…your word, I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You…” Psalm 119:11 (NKJV)

Again and again, you must have heard that the word of God works, not just because people said so but that the word of God says so too. In the book of Hebrews 4:12, the Bible says that “…the word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account…” Hebrews 4:12 from this, we see that the word of God is indeed powerful and it works, but the question is, how do I get the word to start working in my life? Well, one of the things we must do to get the word of God to produce results in our lives is that we must learn to store it up in our heart and not in our heads.

Most times, I realized that God’s people store up God’s word in their head and not in their heart. So when the time comes for them to see results through God’s word, they are not able to because first of all the word is not in them. You must understand that, the whole Idea of storing up God’s word in your heart is so that when you need it, you could have it available for use. Our heart is the fertile ground for God’s word. That is the place the word of God gets planted and develops into what God talks about in our lives. So you must be diligent enough to allow God’s word to get into your heart, which means when the word of God is being taught or preached, listen attentively that you might gain understanding. When you are studying the word, do it wholeheartedly without any kind of distractions or whatsoever because distractions hinders the assimilation of the word. When you have done this, try to meditate on what you have heard or read. Give it deep thoughts, agree with what it says and let it out of your mouth. If you can do these few things, there is no telling the kind of results you will record in your life. Because you will be guided by the word and most importantly your actions will be influenced by the word. Hallelujah!
