“The Lord did bless Hannah, and she had three more sons and two daughters. The boy Samuel grew up in the service of the Lord.” — 1 Samuel 2:21 (GNT)
Beloved, since you became a believer, have you been growing in the service of the Lord—or have you found yourself slowly pulling back? I know this might seem like a strange question, but it’s one worth reflecting on deeply. In today’s world, many believers don’t prioritize spiritual growth through service. They rarely see promotions in the house of the Lord as true progress. When they measure success, it’s often based on cars, houses, or job titles—not their growth in ministry or how far they’ve come in their service to God.
Sadly, some even treat serving in God’s house as a waste of time. I remember a moment years ago when I was faithfully serving as an usher. A young man from church approached me and said, “What are your plans? You’re always in church. Don’t you want to talk about building a career, buying a house, or owning a car?” Then he added, “Is this how you plan to build your life?” I calmly told him that my focus was on giving my time to serve the Lord. He laughed and distanced himself from me after that—he saw me as someone without ambition.
But over the years, I’ve heard many such comments, and none of them moved me. I was confident that the path I had chosen—serving the Lord—was the right one. And by God’s grace, I kept receiving promotions, not just in church, but in every area of my life. Today, I can boldly say that growing in the service of the Lord has been the most rewarding decision I’ve ever made.
So, beloved, don’t just be a churchgoer—serve in the house of the Lord, and do so with a desire to grow. Be someone God can trust and use. The Bible says Samuel “grew up in the service of the Lord,” and God used him mightily to lead Israel all the days of his life. There is joy in serving God, and the rewards are both spiritual and practical—you will be the one to enjoy them in the long run.

Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for this wonderful teaching. I choose to offer my service in Your house with all my heart. I receive grace to grow in it and become a vessel You can trust and use for Your glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
