“…as you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving..” Colossians 2:6-7 (NKJV)

As you journey in your walk with God, one of the things you must make a conscious decision to do is to grow up in Christ. You must understand that there are different phases in our Christian Walk. There is the baby hood stage where we like to be pampered by God and then the adult hood stage where we prove God’s word in our lives. Now, among these two stages, we are expected to move from being a baby Christian to becoming a matured Christian. This is because when you remain a baby Christian, you can be easily swept off your feet by any wind of doctrine or challenges that sometimes comes to test our faith in Christ Jesus.

But when you are matured in Christ Jesus, no matter what you face or go through or hear, it doesn’t move you because you are not just in Christ Jesus but deeply rooted in Him. So, it is important that you develop yourself through God’s word to become a matured son of God. Much as God would love to keep pampering you always as a baby Christian, He wants you to move from there and start handling strong meat. When you are matured in Christ Jesus, it doesn’t matter the challenges that you face or the news that is in town, you will not be moved because you have come to know who you are in Christ Jesus. You have come to know that your roots are deep in Him and no matter what happens, your victory is assured. So, become conscious of this truth and start developing yourself deliberately. I used the word “deliberately” because growth in Christ Jesus, will never happen from a place comfort. Rather, it can only happen from a place of sacrifice. It will require you to give you time to studying the word of God, it will require you set aside your will just to align with the will of God revealed to you in Christ Jesus. So, I admonish you today to start working on yourself and give yourself wholly to God and watch what He will make out of your life. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for this wonderful truth you have revealed to me, I choose this day to grow in Christ and to put away childishness. I declare that as I do this, every blessing, honor and lifting that is due to come to me is locating me in Jesus’ name. Amen!
