“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the Church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.” (1 Corinthians 12:27-28 NKJV)

As a member of the Body of Christ, do you know that God expects you to have a sense of responsibility? He wants you to be useful and active rather than passive. God has placed in you specific gifts and callings that you can use to benefit others, which is why you must take responsibility in the body of Christ.

Don’t be among those who sit back and watch others serve. You also need to serve so that the work of God can advance and impact more people. Until you take responsibility and fulfill your part, the equation is not balanced. The Bible says, “If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if the whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?” (1 Corinthians 12:17). This tells us that every part of the body has a function to fulfill. If you are not fulfilling yours, you are depriving the body of Christ of its full potential.

You might wonder, Where do I start? How do I recognize my role? It’s simple. The first thing you need to do is decide to serve and make yourself available. Once you do this, the rest will become easier.

After making yourself available, understand that there are no special signs pointing to where you should serve. You just need to decide, join a group in church, and start engaging in their activities. As you continue to serve, your true calling will begin to manifest, and over time, you will discover the area where God wants you to serve and use your gifts.

So, I encourage you today to make a conscious decision to take up responsibility. There is always a place for you if your heart is set on serving. Stop watching others serve or be served. Choose to serve, and your life will never remain the same. The blessings that come with serving and fulfilling your role in the body of Christ can only be experienced through active participation.

So, what are you waiting for? Take your first step today and be a blessing to someone through your service in the house of the Lord. Whether you realize it or not, God needs you.

Today’s Rhema

Stop watching others serve or be served—be among those serving!

Confession for the Day

Father, I thank You for this timely message that You have brought my way to bless me. My eyes are opened to see the need to fulfill my role in the body of Christ. Therefore, I declare that I make myself available for service, and as I serve, my gifts and callings come alive to benefit God’s people, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
