“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me” John 15:4 (NKJV)

Having established in the first part of this article the importance of being a dweller in Christ, someone might say, how can I become a dweller and not a visitor? Well, it is simple! There are different ways to make that happen.

The first one is to abide in Christ through the Holy Spirit. Remember, the Holy Spirit has been given to us as a promise fulfilled from the Father. But you see, if you are going to be a successful dweller by the Holy Spirit, you must yield to the ministry of the Holy Spirit and be submissive to Him. In other words, you have to make up your mind to acknowledge and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, because it is possible for Him to become dormant in your life if you are not yielded to Him. So, the first key to becoming a dweller, is to be yielded to the leadership of the Spirit of God. That’s why the Bible says “‭as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” Romans 8:14(NKJV).

The second way to be a dweller and not a visitor In Christ Jesus, is by holding on to His Word and letting it abide in us. The Lord Jesus Christ said, “if you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” John 15:7 (NKJV). Take note of the part where He says, “if you abide in me and my words abide in you”. It lets us know that one of the ways to abide in Christ, is by allowing His word abide in us. So, follow the leading of God’s Spirit, be passionate about the house of God and the work of the Father and give priority to God’s word in your life. When you do these things tenaciously, you will be a dweller and not a visitor. Hallelujah!
