“..to me who am less than the least of all saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery…”—Ephesians 3:8-9 (NKJV)

The Apostle Paul affirmed that there were a lot of things about God that were mysterious and unsearchable. But he also said that God gave him grace to know the mysteries and those unsearchable riches, and God also gave him the ability and instructions to make known this mystery that he had discovered. Why? So that what was a mystery before would no longer be a mystery, and what was unknown to the church would become known. This means the knowledge of who God is, what He can do, the way he operates and the things He has done is to be made known to the church so that the church becomes aware and no longer stays in darkness. But today, we still find Christians who say, “God is a mysterious God” or that “God works in mysterious ways.” This statement isn’t scriptural at all. Maybe people try to sound humble by making such a statement, but it paints our relationship with God as distant or nonexistent. Because when something is mysterious, you just don’t understand it. And that is the exact opposite of what He expects from us.

Beloved, God wants us to know Him, to understand His ways, and to believe His word. He doesn’t want us to be surprised by His works. God has revealed Himself to us in His Word so we can know and understand Him. His way can only be a mystery to a man who does not have understanding, which means God can only be a mystery to us if we don’t understand or know His words. It is in our interest to begin now to acquaint ourselves with His word so that we can understand Him, know His ways, and not be surprised by the things He does or think some things are impossible. Our God is not a mystery to us. That was why our Lord Jesus Christ said, “My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them and they follow me.” John 10:27. Hearing the voice of the master and following Him means He is not a stranger to us, we know him and we follow him because the sound of his instructions is very familiar to us.

Today’s Rhema

Nothing about God is a mystery anymore, which is why He gave us His word!

CONFESSIONS FOR THE DAY

Thank you, Lord, for making yourself known to me. The world does not know you, and that is because they do not seek you. You have made your word available, in order to make yourself known to all the people in the world. So, I thank you for the mysteries and the unsearchable riches which you gave me on a platter of gold, and I say, Thank you, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
