“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, to him who knocks it will be opened.” — Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV)
In your journey with God, it’s essential to make Him your first point of contact in times of need. Life’s pressures may sometimes tempt us to seek human help first, but you must cultivate the habit of going to God before anyone else. Our Christian journey is a faith walk; depending solely on God is the only way to experience a life of true fulfillment, as He alone can satisfy your deepest needs.
The Psalmist captured this beautifully, saying, “I look to the mountains; where will my help come from? My help will come from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2, GNT). Let your heart be set on God, going to Him first for help because He is both faithful and timely in His responses. He promises, “…call to Me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know…” (Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV). So, are you willing to prioritize going to God first? Remember His word in Jeremiah 17:8: “…blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river and will not fear when heat comes…”
Today’s Rhema
For every time you don’t go to God first for your desires, you demonstrate your lack of trust in Him and weaken the muscles of your faith!
