“Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 (NIV)
When God wants to do something dynamic in our lives, the Spirit of God moves into action. We see an example of this in the book of Genesis. When God created the world, the Holy Spirit had to move. The Bible records, “The earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” – Genesis 1:2-3 (NIV).
When the Spirit of God moved over the waters, every word that God spoke became a reality. This shows that if the Spirit of God does not move in a situation or in a person’s life, God’s work cannot fully manifest. The move of the Spirit is not dictated by human designs or schedules; it operates on divine timing and principles beyond human understanding. One crucial thing we must do is remain sensitive to His leading. This is the only way the Holy Spirit can move in us without limitations. The Holy Spirit thrives in an atmosphere of faith and surrender. He will not move in a place or in the life of someone who does not believe in Him or who restricts His work.
Beloved, if you want the Spirit of God to move in your life, you must eliminate every form of resistance and give Him complete freedom. He is always ready to help in times of need, to comfort in moments of distress, and to transform lives. He will accomplish all He desires if you allow Him to move without restrictions. So, do not quench the Spirit. Do not hinder His presence while He dwells in you. Instead, cultivate an intimate relationship with Him by talking to Him, studying the Word, worshiping, and praying. As you engage in these spiritual disciplines, you will witness the mighty workings of the Spirit of God manifesting in your life. Amen!
