“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” – John 17:17 (KJV)

Peter, James, and John saw Jesus die. So did Mary, His mother, and Thomas. Before their eyes, He was beaten, bruised, and pierced. And right in front of them, He said to God, “Into Your hands I commend My spirit.” – Luke 23:46 (NKJV). Then, He was gone. He didn’t faint. He wasn’t in a coma. He died—and He was truly dead.

The Spirit of our Lord left His body, and His death was confirmed. Those around Him witnessed the scene. Some even called on their friends to come and see it. His mother watched. His disciples watched. A Roman soldier pierced His side, and blood and water poured out—clear signs that death had taken Him. So, it’s no surprise that Thomas found it hard to believe otherwise. He had seen it all. The blood, the lifeless body, the finality of death. He saw his Lord taken down from the cross. Jesus had truly departed, having journeyed into the unknown.

But then, on a certain day, word began to spread: people said they had seen the Lord walking through the streets. Many couldn’t believe it. Some doubted—even though Jesus had already told them that He would rise again.

The Bible says, “Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the law, and that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” – Matthew 16:21 (NIV).

Still, it was hard for them to accept that He had returned. They were too focused on what they had seen. They clung to their experiences and overlooked the truth in His words. They didn’t expect His resurrection because they had been overwhelmed by the natural realm—just like many of God’s people today.

Some believers have gone through so much that they no longer expect a solution. They’ve grown accustomed to defeat, hardship, and delay. But beloved, it is important to understand that life goes beyond what you see. The Word of God is the only truth. It doesn’t matter what the situation looks like—God always designs a way of escape.

So take your eyes off the pressure. Receive your solution in the truth of God’s Word. Refuse to dwell in the realm of what is seen. Instead, choose to dwell in the realm of God’s Word—the only realm where truth lives and victory is sure. Praise God!
