“…Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air…” 1 Corinthians 9:24‭, ‬26 (NKJV)

Glory be to God! It’s a new year and a new season. To be alive and seeing the new year is a big plus for you as a believer. It shows that God still has a plan for you and is waiting for you to step into that plan. He has made all the grace needed to accomplish this great plan to abound towards you.

Now, you have a responsibility to make the year count and to do that, it is important that you channel your efforts and strengths into the major things of life and not the minors. What do I mean by that? I will explain. The major things of life are the things that add value to your life and help you to make progress. They are things that help you become productive and fruitful to God, to men and to yourself. When you engage in these things, they help you to live a meaningful life. These are things that at the end of the year, you can boldly say this is what I was able to achieve with my life.

Therefore, I encourage you today to make a conscious decision to focus on the major things of life. Let every step and action you take this year, lead you further into God’s plan and purpose for your life. Let every effort you make lead you closer to your dreams and not a way from it. Choose to be productive every day of this year. Don’t return back to that place of idleness. Remember, if things are going to happen in your life this year, you are the one to make it happen. So, act wisely and focus on the things that count while avoiding those things that waste time. Be like Paul the Apostle who said, “…I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air…” I Corinthians 9:24-‬26 (NKJV). Don’t beat the air; have a target and aim for it. God will help you. Hallelujah!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity you have given to me to see another glorious year. I choose to focus on the major things that will help me move to the next level in life. As I do this, my story is changing in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
