“…do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…” Colossians 3:9 (NKJV)

A common trend amongst many today, is lies.  It has become so common to the point that many no longer see anything wrong with it. For some people it is a normal thing while for some others, it is just a way of making their communication palatable in the ears. However, as common as it has become, telling lies is not a good habit. Therefore, it is important that as a Christian, you deliberately refrain your tongue from lying for it is written“…do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…” Colossians 3:9 (NKJV)

Lying is an attitude of the old man and we cannot afford to keep this attitude after we have dropped the old man and his ways.  As a matter of fact, if there is anything God does not like at all is lies. In proverbs 6:16-19, the bible says “…these six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord…” Proverbs 6:16-19. If you take a look at the list, you find that a lying tongue is the second thing pointed out. Letting us know that it is something God detest and because He doesn’t like it, we have to consciously make sure that lies are completely removed out of our mouth. It is a deliberate action you need to make. I know that sometimes, it is unavoidable because of the circumstances that may be surrounding the matter, but when you are resolute about this issue, you will consciously work it and eliminate it from your lips.

Today’s Rhema

No matter how sweet a lie may be, it is still a lie, therefore avoid telling lies!

Confession for the Day

I decree this day that the grace to avoid telling lies is mightily at work in me and no matter how the devil tries to make me go in that direction, I will not fall for it because the grace to stay away from it is at work in my life Jesus name. Amen!
