Don’t Look to Man but to the Holy Spirit

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever. —John 14:16 (NIV)

Life is a journey for which every person must eventually answer. There is a time for being pampered and nurtured, but the time also comes when you must take absolute responsibility for your own life. You look around and realize you are grown; you must take care of yourself and perhaps even those around you. In those moments, you find you have no one to depend on but God.

I have noticed that people often face deep disappointment when they call on others and find no help. This happens because they are looking in the wrong direction; they are looking to the wrong person for support. You cannot depend on man as your ultimate helper. Man was not created to be the source of help for another, because he has his own problems that consume him as well. It is the Holy Spirit who has been given to us as our Helper.

One thing we must understand is that even if people come to our aid, there eventually comes a point where they may feel you have asked for too much or that they have given enough. But the Holy Spirit is not like that. The Bible says He will be with you forever. His ministry is to work with you eternally, not just for a season.

He never tires of you asking for help. He is more than happy to guide you and bring you out of any mess. The Holy Spirit will never complain behind your back or make light of your predicament. He is the perfect Help, and He is simply saying, “Turn to Me all the time, not to man.”

Sadly, many have not yet understood that they have someone working alongside them who can never be separated from them, no matter the situation—someone who will never say “no” or turn His back on you. The Holy Spirit knows you and will never judge you. Take advantage of His presence in your life and do not ignore Him, because He is your Helper. Amen!

Today’s Rhema

The Holy Spirit is your Helper; stop looking to man!

Confession for the Day

Thank You, Holy Spirit, for being my Helper forever. I know now that You and I are a team, and I will always walk and work with You. I will always turn to You and depend on You rather than on man. Amen!
